Experienced Deck Carpenter | Growth Opportunity

Advanced Custom Decks | Columbia, CT

You're probably not looking for just another construction job.

You take pride in doing quality work.

You enjoy building something that's going to last.

You want to work with people who care about the finished product just as much as you do.

Maybe you're tired of job sites where there's too much ego, people cut corners, or nobody seems to care about doing things right.

That's not what we're building.

At Advanced Custom Decks, we build custom decks and outdoor living spaces that families will enjoy for years to come. Just as important, we're building a team of people who enjoy working together and take pride in what they accomplish.

We don't expect perfection.

We do expect people who care, who are willing to learn, and who want to get a little better every day.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced carpenter with strong construction fundamentals.

You don't need years of deck-building experience to succeed here.

We'll teach you our systems, installation methods, and the details that make our projects stand out.

What matters most is that you bring solid carpentry skills, a strong work ethic, and a team-first mindset.

As our company grows, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility and grow into leadership for the right person.

What You'll Do

  • Demolition and site preparation
  • Layout and dig footings
  • Pour concrete and build foundations
  • Frame custom decks
  • Install decking, stairs, rail systems, pergolas, and outdoor living features
  • Measure, cut, and build with precision
  • Help maintain clean, organized jobsites
  • Work alongside teammates to keep projects moving
  • Learn and follow our deck-building systems
  • Help deliver an outstanding experience for every homeowner

Success Looks Like

You'll be successful when you:

  • Build high-quality work with minimal callbacks.
  • Help maintain clean, organized jobsites.
  • Show up consistently and contribute to a productive crew.
  • Continue learning and improving your craft.
  • Become someone your teammates can count on every day.

You'd Be a Great Fit If...

  • You take pride in quality craftsmanship.
  • You have strong carpentry skills and want to keep growing.
  • You leave your ego at the door.
  • You ask questions instead of guessing.
  • You enjoy working with a team.
  • You take ownership of your work.
  • You want to build projects you'll be proud of.

This Role Probably Isn't For You If...

  • You believe your way is the only way.
  • You resist feedback or coaching.
  • You cut corners.
  • You create unnecessary drama.
  • You're looking for a title more than an opportunity.
  • You're only looking for a paycheck.

Why People Enjoy Working Here

Around here, nobody is above grabbing a tool, lending a hand, or helping a teammate solve a problem.

We have high standards because our customers trust us to build something that lasts.

That means we're always learning, always improving, and always looking for better ways to do the job right.

We respect experience, but we also value people who are willing to learn, teach, and help the team succeed.

If you're looking for a place where quality matters and people have each other's backs, you'll fit right in.
